I’m Up for Up!

Has anyone seen Pixar’s upcoming movie trailer “UP”?

Boyfie and I saw the trailer some time back in the cinemas when we were catching another movie and it made us sit up and go O_O. I initially thought it caught my eye simply because it is a Pixar movie [I'm a big Pixar fan. Their movies are about the only animations (apart from Studio Ghibli) that I will take the initiative to suggest watching.], but by the end of the trailer, boyfie and I turned to each other and said unanimously “let’s go catch this!”

Whee~

Here is Russell and Carl. Note Carl rolling his eyes sarcastically [or looking up haha].

I admit Carl, the cranky old man, was the one who tickled my funny bones first with his sarcastic short sentences and grumpy expressions. Heck, he reminds me of me when I am grumpy and grouchy. If I could make those expressions, I would! The expressions simply crack me up. Laughs. Hmm, kind of an oxymoron there eh.

I wonder who boyfie prefers. Perhaps Russell with his childlike optimism and boundless energy? Afterall, boyfie has always been the more optimistic one as compared to me. Sometimes when he talks about the things that interest him, his eyes will light up like Russell in the above picture. Laughs. But thank goodness boyfie is not as chirpy-happy-trippy and yakky as Russell or else…. *strangles ferociously*

That aside, I have a feeling Russell’s character will grow on me. A bit of bright-eyed optimism never hurt even the most cynical.

The chaotic gang. The bird is called Kevin by the way. Lol~ Russell named it. And there’s Dug the ‘talking’ dog.

The contrast in characters couldn’t be any clearer, yet somehow there is a certain kind of chemistry between Russell and Carl. I can so imagine them getting into countless misadventures, then having to solve them together.

Last but not least, a flying house? Adventures galore? Who wouldn’t like such whimsical moments and flights of fancy? [<- Hey, that is similar to my previous blog tagline.] I, for one, entertain thoughts of being whisked away sometimes many times in my life. Must be too much Alice-In-Wonderland-The-Wizard-of-Oz tv-childhood.

The Monday that just passed, we caught Ice Age 3 in 3d and when boyfie put on his glasses in preparation for the movie, I stared at him and exclaimed, “Hey, you look like the grumpy old man in UP!” and guess what? The UP trailer started playing on the screens. -_-” Deja vu much…

Us like Carl of UP. He was making some weird facial expression. Ahem.

UP in Singapore Cinemas opening 7th August 2009. Will you be catching it?
