Gaki No Tsukai
Posted on Saturday, March 13th, 2010 at 12:00 pmHave anyone of you heard of a game called the ‘Batsu Game’?
I have been getting some laughs from watching the Japanese gameshow “Gaki No Tsukai Ya Arahende” where the two hosts take pleasure in playing the batsu game with each other.. for 21 years and counting!
Generally, a batsu game takes place after some sort of competition or bet. The winner forces the loser to participate in the batsu game, which involves doing or experiencing something unpleasant. Most of the times, there are no restrictions to the punishments.
I must have a mean streak or something because I find them sooooo hilarious! The humour arises not mainly from what they do [or at least sometimes], but from the reactions of the loser during the batsu game. In one batsu game, the loser Matsumoto had to stay in a haunted hotel for two days one night where the crew and producer prepared several infinite gags to scare him. Oh, I had a stitch from laughing so much! There was also a ‘pie hell’ batsu game where Matsumoto [the loser, again!] had to stay in a his pretend-house for one entire day and four others from the winning team [three other guys joined the game programme between 1995 - 1997. oooh, hansamu Endo!] were allowed to throw as many pies at him. The rule is that Matsumoto is not allowed to react to the pies in any way while following prompts from a narrator over the sound system. What mirth!!
It is pretty tough to find all the videos from youtube.com. Boyfie downloaded a couple of subtitled ones from torrents, so those interested may want to try that. Watch it!
