Heaven’s Coin

s t a r m | s t July 27th, 2006

This reminds me of the Love Loaf programme that World Vision has. Two months late for it but better late than never, methink. If anyone want to take up the Cents From Heaven project as well, please email me or drop me an sms as I will be going down some time next week to collect my tin. =)

Heal the world, make it a better place…

Hear Hear

s t a r m | s t July 26th, 2006

The most ri-di-cu-lous thing I have ever heard in a long while.

“It’s moderate [hearing loss]. Doctor checked [for medical contraindications] already and everything is fine, but he said I don’t need to wear hearing aids ‘cos wearing hearing aids will spoil my ears. Now I don’t know what to do,” he said, looking confused.

Hello Doctor, there is a reason why hearing aids are called aids. And you call yourself an ENT [ear, nose, throat] specialist?

Maybe it’s time for you to go back to med school, buddy.

The Stress of Life

s t a r m | s t July 25th, 2006

i woke up to drops spiking my lashes, a tear-stained pillow and wads of tissues which i do not recall using. outside, the sky was dark, dawn has yet to arrive, and it was pouring. the rain made shushing sounds, hitting the window panes harshly and relentlessly. in my room, the dim light of my lamp cast shadows against the lightly-tinted walls, and at that very moment, it seemed to me that my life mirrored the confines of my room.

everything seemed grey and misty and cold.

stressed and miserable.
——————————————————————————-

“a deep breath helps whenever the heart aches,” Le Petit Prince advised me this afternoon.

i read the sentence twice - once with absolutely no feeling nor emotion, and then some.

and without any warning, tears gushed down my face. and i was in office, bloody hell.

One Voice

I’m not entirely sure if I can post this up here, but oh well.

Tickets are available at SISTIC. You would enjoy a 5% discount if you choose to be supporter of SADeaf [you can buy from SISTIC online or purchase them at the SISTIC outlets directly]. No verification needed as it’s based on trust.

So it has come once again - A Nation In Concert. I remember the last year’s pilot ANIC oh so clearly. How the committee struggled so hard to get sponsorship and to boost sales, what lark we had during rehearsals, the silly things we did while waiting for our turns, the photo-taking, the things he did and said to me, song-signing to other songs, the mixing around with other volunteer performers, the actual performance itself. ANIC brings back such good memories, and it is also one of the most enriching learning experience I have ever volunteered for.

This year’s ANIC will be the same, yet different. With the absence of some of my favourite peeps - Pawprints, Angel, and the changes in circumstances, I wonder if it will be just as fun [though I don’t doubt it will still be just as enriching].

Last year a couple of friends who watched the performances sent me encouraging messages like “I cried while watching the show” and “it is so touching, hugs for a job well done!”. I believe this year’s ANIC will be just as great, just as meaningful.

So friends, strangers and acquaintances, if you happen to be free on that day, if you are interested in knowing the things I love to do, if you want to see the people who want to make a difference, or if you simply want to spend an enjoyable evening out, do check out A Nation In Concert!

Le Petit Prince: Woohoo! Time to burrow into books!

Me: WHAT the BEEEEPPPPPPPPP!! I will not be around in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *screams profanities*

Le Petit Prince: Don’t take it out on me, sweetie. I am not the one arranging for your overseas holiday, ha!

Me: Boo hoo hoooooooooooooooooooooooooo… Whyyyyyy *dramatic stare at the sky* Will Alvie be nice enough to buy books for me?

Le Petit Prince: Hello ashley, you will be making like 50k pounds per week after your transfer to Chelsea. Can buy up an entire Kino store.

Maybe two.

True Colours

s t a r m | s t July 20th, 2006

when all is said and done,
shadows bleeding through the light
c’est tellement mystérieux - le pays des larmes
i would change the world if i had the chance
i need to
i understand

I can’t take it anymore.

I feel like quitting. You who mock at me, laugh at me, take advantage of me… don’t make me hate you.

Almost Here

s t a r m | s t July 18th, 2006

In the end, there are no winners or losers in the game; only participants who get played by circumstances.

all the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players: they have their exits and their entrances.

Tell Me Lies

s t a r m | s t July 17th, 2006

o, my poor weak heart, how could you tolerate rash, impulsive me? me who thought a little fringe would do the job for my high forehead, but instead, ended up looking like a… i refuse to look at myself in the mirror go outdoors for the next one week meet anyone for the next one month think about it.

while i was moaning the demise of a once at-least-presentable look, my mother raised the observation that i look like the me in secondary school, when i once had a similar haircut. only that that was 10 times nicer and i look 100 times uglier now.

mixed blooded us.

this is so tragic.

Chocoholic

s t a r m | s t July 15th, 2006

Wow!

I was aimlessly clicking away and noticed that my ranking shot up to 16 for a day or two instead of the usual 40+ to 80+. So needless to say, I was curious to know why it was so and went to investigate. Apparently the source of the sudden influx of Korean readers was this. Laughs. Thanks to GirlJ (hey, I’m J too!) who commented about my entry, though hmm..’asian girl’ sounds a lil’..uhh..patronising? =/

‘In a comment on our last post, GirlJ pointed us to a Choco-holic who seems to go by the name of sTaRm|sT.

She (we assume) has written a poem about her desire for a Chocolate phone, called Love, Lust and Pixie Dust. Here’s a short extract:

“to think you seduced me
without even trying that hard
me, i was caught off-guard
as i was looking elsewhere initially
but you came along and dazzled me and struck me blind
and now.. i just can’t get you out of my mind”

I’ve read lots of bloggers saying they love their Chocolate phone, but any further than this and it would surely be x-rated.’

Oops.

But wow!
