Back From the Dead

One For My Baby

s t a r m | s t March 18th, 2006

it was glorious and I won’t ever forget.

the night is dark and the air is cool and fresh. everything flows by fluidly in shadows by the dim shimmering glow of the street lamps. I feel the wind rushing past me in a low humming tone as I cling on to you in part fear, part exhilaration. my hair whipped about crazily, dancing wildly with the wind, tangling in its grasp. zero to a hundred in four seconds. I turn back only to see the other lights fading into the distance, and I let out a peel of laughter. freedom, I think to myself, freedom in its rawest form.

we reach the highway and you accelerate, bringing my heartbeat to a high. the empty road ahead stretches to infinity, as far as the eye could see. time slows down, and this is our time together as we fly along, and nothing else exists for that moment, except for you, and me, and the ever-constant wind.

I, Lucifer

A Rose By Any Other Name

s t a r m | s t March 13th, 2006

I have got an axe to grind with people who cannot be bothered to spell my name right even though I have spelt it out for them when I first meet them, or the subsequent times thereafter. What is worse are those who insist on greeting me with 3165 variations of my name - abuse, really - even after I sign off with my name time. and. again. like. hello. do. you. not. know. how. to. read.

True, the spelling of my name is a little different from the common ones, but honestly, it is not that unique for so many people to get confused over [or is it, is it, is it? =/]. Perhaps I may seem anal about such a minor issue, but when you have to grow up trying to correct the spelling and pronounciation of your name repeatedlytothesameoldpeopleallthetimeoverandoveragain, it gets a little tiresome and not just a little frustrating.

Today, someone messaged me calling me by my hotmail address not once but thrice, and I thought, this is strange. And after a bit of manoeuvring of the really short convo, I realised that he called me that cos he has forgotten my name [my entire name!]. And this fellow has been persisting after me for, what, the past three months?

You cannot even remember my name, yet you can make all those sweeping declarations. Makes me wonder what you are really after.

Yeah, I was really sarcastic but I couldn’t help myself.

My point is, if a person cannot be bothered to remember the most basic of the basics of another person - the name, it only goes to show how insincere he is about getting to know the other person. It is the small things that count, and small things lead to bigger revelations.

So if you consider yourself my friend, remember my name and remember it well [exceptions given to people from the bar, because I know just how difficult it is to remember and link all the faces to the nicks, not to mention the real names].

My name is spelt with one ‘Y’ and two ‘N’s.

Brokeback Mountain

The funniest part

When Jack and Ennis started making out in the tent for the second time, a very traumatised TMM leaned towards me and muttered, “I hate you [for suggesting to watch this movie].” Laughs.

The saddest part

The scene where Ennis discovered his shirt inside Jack’s shirt in a back corner of the latter’s closet, the heartwrenching look on his face, and the way he hugged both shirts so dearly to himself.
