The end draws near
for the closing of the year
Before the curtains fall
this is 2005 for me.
I have cried too many tears
discovered too much anger
said too many words
laughed with too little people
I have loved too deeply
stored too much sorrow
hated too intensely
dreaded too many ‘morrows
I have made too many acquaintances
burned one too many bridges
listened to too many voices
experienced too many heartbreaks
I have seen too many deaths
witnessed many miracles
believed in too many lies
revealed too many truths
I have taken too many risks
lived too many roles
volunteered too little service
fulfilled too little goals
I have spent too much dough
read too little prose
clicked on too many weblogs
slept too little hours
I have received indecent proposals
found the job of my dreams
kept in contact with my friends
and told my family I love them.
