Lelong, Lelong
23rd May 2004- night, Melbourne time
We were supposed to head down to St Kilda’s beach but most of us woke up at 1pm. Ahem. Have not adjusted to Melbourne time I reckon. Dee wanted to buy [more] food so Iv-bro, Bakzamgai, Vic and I went along. As it was near closing time, the sellers were all slashing their prices ‘cos they’d wanted to close shop for the day. Some of them were shouting “Come, come! $3 off all meat!”, which was so weird ‘cos it was so like our “Lai, lelong, lelong!” Iv-bro started imitating them, getting all carried away with “Come, come, buy 1 get 1 free. $5 off everything! $10 off all meat! Buy 1, get a cow free! Free! Free! Everything free!” with an exaggerated gesture of his hands. An old Aussie lady overheard him and grinned so widely I thought her teeth would drop out, and she went “It would be great if you work here”. Laughs.
Some of us headed to Smith Street where the factory outlets were [but they weren't all that cheap] and bought a couple of clothes. I love doing all these, I wish I have all the time to live here.
